The criminal case involved 53 military veterans accused of taking 26 people – including two ministers and a deputy minister – hostage has been withdrawn. The NPA confirmed it had been dropped following successful representations by the accused. There were initially charged with conspiracy to commit kidnapping and 26 counts of kidnapping. Later the state even added terrorism-related charges. We discuss this with the attorney for the veterans, Andries Nkome.
